How do we prepare for a commercial video shoot? Part II

Happy Wednesday everyone! In last article, we have shared the first three works we do during pre-production. This time we will share the other two. Let’s go!

Pre-Production

All the works done on a commercial video shoot before the full-scale production begins are called Pre-Production. The more time we invest in preparing for a production, the more quality we harvest in a commercial video. So, we always encourage our client to choose a package with the full pre-production service. Below, it is a list of works included in pre-production. Today we will focus on the first three works.

  • Pre-Production Meeting

  • Script Writing

  • Shot List

  • Location

  • Talents and Crews List

Location

When it comes to confirming a shooting location, there are many things we will do during the preparation. While having an official location scout is still necessary, we will use different tools to do virtual location scout first. After narrowing down the list, we will tour in person. During the in person location scout, there are a few questions being considered.

  • Where is the power outlets? Are these enough?

  • Is this location near any airports?

  • Does the cost of location fit the budget?

  • Does this location fit our story/script?

We will take a lot of pictures during the in person location scout. These pictures will be used in many aspects.

Talents and Crews List

Now it’s the fun part - finding and hiring the talents and crews team. For talents hiring, we will consider clients’ requests first. Then, we will start posting jobs on multiple platforms. First thing first, after receiving resumes, we will start viewing them. While viewing resumes, we view talents’ experiences by medium: features, television, commercials, documentaries, or reality. Lastly, it is the audition. After viewing the audition footage with client, we will soon find and hire the talents.

With some experiences in commercial shoots, we already formed a “ForeFront team”. These talented people have worked on many remarkable projects with us together. We will talk more about the “ForeFront team” in our future blogs!

After reading the article, we hope you’ve had a lot of fun! During this special thankful season, we would like to take a moment to thank our teammates, social media followers, and clients. Together, we make our dreams coming true! So, in order to show our appreciation, we would love to offer you an exclusive holiday deal!
